I went to Mexico for a week and FINALLY finished Game of Thrones on my plane rides and down time. Not a whole lot to say, since I knew just about everything that was going to happen, having watched the first season of the TV show first. I’m gonna TRY to finish Clash of Kings before April 1st so I can watch the second season without being spoiled! Reading GoT has made me really want to rewatch the first season though.
I’m excited for CoK though! Uncharted territory! Anything could happen! My emotions are in such jeopardy! Sansa Dany and Arya are my favorites atm.
All my tumblrs now have custom themes except for the lists one cuz when would anyone go to look at that one? :P

I’ve been busy with Christmas and whatnot. Haven’t been reading much. I’m not even halfway through Game of Thrones either! Those books are SO LONG. :P
For me it was less his actions and more just his general disposition and expression. My head-Joffrey from the book is a lot more believable, lol. Of course I didn’t know for sure he was awful until then on the show, but he did seem to smirk a lot.
At least so far, I sympathize with her more.
In the books she’s not as haughty and she’s not horrible to her sister. Although she doesn’t understand Arya and she gets frustrated with her, her intentions aren’t bad and she’s at least sweet most of the time. Also Joffrey isn’t as obviously horrible. It’s more understandable that she would fall for that thing in the books. In the show it’s just so obvious that he’s a horrid little shit that you’re just like OMG SANSA, REALLY?
But in the books he’s a super handsome boy, and he’s really nice to her, and she never sees his true colors until that moment when they go riding and he’s been bitten by Nymeria and she tries to help him and she touches his face and he just transforms into something evil and snaps at her. By then she’s pretty much in too deep to get out. She’s his betrothed already, and she’s travelling to go live in his castle with his family so there’s no going back now. She’s pretty much trapped. I feel so bad for her, especially with her wolf being executed and everything. I’m excited to see what happens with her when I get to the next books where I don’t already know what happens.
I finished the second FMA book quite a while ago, but I hadn’t started another one until just yesterday so hence the lack of posts. I’ve read Around the World in Eighty Days before, in grade school, but I don’t remember it at all, really, except for the end which is unfortunate. It’s more fun to reread books if you don’t remember what happens in the end. Also there have been a LOT of different covers for this book. I had a heck of a time finding the one I own.
Just finished the first volume of the second 3-in-1. So basically I’m starting vol. 5 of Fullmetal Alchemist.
I’ll probably get murdered for saying this, but so far I’m not impressed with the manga vs. the anime. The music and the voice acting and everything about the anime is just lovely and moving. And it seems to delve more deeply into the stories too. There’s a couple things that are in the manga that are not in the anime, but it seems like there’s more stuff in the anime that’s absent from the manga. I miss Barry the Butcher. ;__; We don’t get to see the crazy bastard before he’s already a soul in a creepy skull suit. It takes away the entire surprise of his identity. DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I’M BARRY THE BUTCHER! Okay… and I care because…? And just the pacing of the whole thing feels extremely rushed.
I breezed through the whole Nina escapade with :| face. It didn’t move me at all. In the anime it’s one of the most uncomfortable, creepy things I’ve ever seen. In a good way. It haunts you. And it’s just oh-so-tragic. I shed a tear for Hughes in the manga, but I almost had to force it out. Just MEH. I’m not impressed.
Instead of starting a new classic, I’m doing manga! (surprise!)
It just came about because I went to Barnes and Noble today (no one should ever let me in there) and found these 3-in-1 FMA books which makes each volume HALF the price they would otherwise be, and I just needed them. So I got them. So now I have the first 6 volumes of FMA.
And then I started reading in the car on the way home SO I GUESS THAT’S MY SECOND BOOK. :P It won’t take me long to get through them. I’m 2/3 through the first one already. I’m not going to finish the FMA series right now. I’ll stop when I finish volume 6 and move on to something else.
